I Am Having An MRI For Shoulder Pain And Weakness.

I am having an MRI for shoulder pain and weakness. I am 55 years old. I am a sign language interpreter and would like to return to work which I can't do at the moment.
Should I wait to talk with you after the MRI?
Are there any questions I should ask the doc when I meet with him after the MRI?
I am very scared of surgery but also want to heal well and return to work, excercise and my previous active life.
