I Am Having An Issue With Small White Specks That

I am having an issue with small white specks that seem to attack hair & skin but they are all over the house. At first I thought they were dust mites but now I don't think so. I first saw them on her skin. But she passed over a month ago and now they are bothering me. The vet could not tell me what they were. They itch and thin out the hair leaving "trails" on the skin. That's what I noticed on her. My hair is thinning as well but I am 63 and have Sjogrens so not sure. Any thoughts on this? Thanks, Dawn. I cannot afford to pay. So sorry I cannot use this site.
