I Am Having Cataract Surgery In An Eye That Is

I am having cataract surgery in an eye that is legally blind so that the specialist can see through the lens to the back of my eye to the melanoma, that has been treated with plaque radiation 10 years ago, and the doctor doing the surgery stated he was putting in an acrylic +24 diopter in as the replacement. What kind of visual lense is that? To see far better or near? Any other info you would like to share would be great.
