I Am Having Pains In The Middle Of Chest ,middle

I am having pains in the middle of chest ,middle breast plate i feel like its a hernia but the docter said it was slighty one but its very tender im suppose to see a gi docter would that be the reason i need to see the gi docter and it scares me lije i might have early stages of heart disease bc i am a smoker
