I Am Having Several Bowel Movements Every Day Usually With

I am having several bowel movements every day usually with a sense of urgency. My stools have bee black and tarry for the past couple of days. I suffer from mild diverticulosis, controlled well with diet and omeprazole. Should I be concerned about bowel cancer?
