I Am Having Sharp Pain On My Right Side Just

I am having sharp pain on my right side just below my ribs radiating towards my back. I have had a total collectomy and j-pouch surgery due to ulcerative colitis. I think this might be muscular but I don't know if it could be an intestinal or other organ related problem. I've had the pain off and on for about a month but it has been constant for the last week and a half. Today it is extremely painful and I can't find relief. I've tried heat, ice, laying, sitting, standing, nothing works. I have an appointment with my GI at the end of the week but I don't know if I should call him before then.
