I Am Nearly 53 And Have Not Had A Period

I am nearly 53 and have not had a period for over 2 1/2 years. I have been on HRT since then, but about 3 months ago I stopped, to see if I was still having hot flashes. Now my hot flashes are pretty intense. I have had fibroids since my late 20's, and now there are 4 that are appx 4 cm each. There is pressure on my bladder. My gyno's recommendation is removal, and I am considering hysterectomy, because I will be going back on HRT, and as I understand it, fibroid growth is augmented by hormones, and there is a 50% chance of regrowth within 12 months. I don't know if keeping my uterus and having the prospect of needing more removal procedures is worth it to me. Is there a reason I would want to keep my uterus? He says that the cervix and ovaries will remain, but the fallopian tubes will be removed. What is the value of keeping my uterus? What, aside from the risks of surgery, would be the negative aspects?
