I Am Presently On Xanax .25mg 3-4 Times A Day

I am presently on Xanax .25mg 3-4 times a day My husband died last Dec and I find myself over whelmed with all there is to do dealing with his death.
Doc switched me to escitalopram 10mg/day. Can I switch over or should I wait a couple days in between meds.
