I am quite sick with severe psoriatic arthritis, I was on methotrexate with first humara then enbrel followed by symponi in a massive attempt to save my spine, but it was too little too late, 7 spine surgeries and my discs are dissolving causing self fusing. from the waist down I've been told I'm the equivalent to someone who had polio, but can still walk. This year I had spine surgery and was opened from lower thoracic to end of lumbar spine, then contracted MRSA that became systemic, to say the least lots of antibiotics for a long time. Now the worst case has happened my liver is in trouble my enzymes are 4X normal, and also have nodules of unknown origin in my kidneys. I am heavy, hitting my all time high of 348lbs. Spent hours and days researching on line what I could do to help my body help itself, eliminating all food and medication that was not liver friendly then started the pre gastric bypass diet which is supposed to be liver friendly, I am down to 298lbs. my shakes are high quality whey containing all 20 amino acids, fage greek yogurt and berries, I also use spices and extracts for flavor but also those most liver friendly. My issue now is my urine has a very strong odor, much like brewers yeast, with my nausea and vomiting the smell is quite offensive to my own body. The smell of my perspiration has also changed. I drink lots of water since I have dry mouth from my meds, I dont see the specialist till new years eve. Oh, the shakes make up the majority of my diet but will have a veggie omelet, or a baked potato with broccoli, cheese and greek yogurt or other "real food" when I feel up to it. My question is regarding my urine should I back off the shakes, drink more water or do something else that may help. I have no energy, am freezing all the time from the weight loss, and get worn out in no time. I guess I should have asked is the change in urine and perspiration just another symptom of my liver issues? The nurse at my doctors office didnt say it outright but kind of skirted around the issue of the start of cirrhosis when she called to check on me last week.
