I Am Requesting The Name Of A Disease Where As

I am requesting the name of a disease where as a child protein is not tolerated. Because of this abnormality life expectancy is short. My 84 year old mother in law called it maple syrup disease. I am a retired nurse and curious what is this syndrome that she says most do not live very.long. Thank you for your help
