I Am Right-handed. Today, My Hand Has Been Very Sore.

I am right-handed. Today, my hand has been very sore. This afternoon, I noticed it is swelling. I am also having frequent sharp pains (like stabbing) in addition to the constant ache. I believe it may be from overuse, though I have rested it today. I am going to ice it and wrap it. Is that a good idea?
