I Am Taking ALENDRONATE 70 Mg Tablets Once Weekly. I

I am taking ALENDRONATE 70 mg tablets once weekly. I follow the instructions for taking it. Later that day and into the next day (sometimes one day after that) I get stomach cramps. For the past two weeks, not only do I have the severe stomach cramps, but I also have diarrhea. is this common? how can I ease the severity of the cramps & avoid diarrhea?
