I Am Taking Gabapentin For Scoliosis. I Have Low Back

I am taking Gabapentin for Scoliosis. I have low back pain mostly on my left side. It doesn't take the pain away as much as I'd like. I've been on 600 mgs. until recently; another 300 mgs.
The side affects are getting worse.
Do you think this is the proper medication for scoliosis? My nurse friend said that it's for Parkinsons.
I also take Hydrocodone as needed up to 4 times a day.
