I Am Taking Mercilon Now For Nearly 2 Months. The

I am taking Mercilon now for nearly 2 months. The reason is to stop my period from coming for this 2 months because of my heavy mensus as advised by my gynae. But strange thing is that my period keep coming but in a very low volume. I just wonder whether taking this pill shall prevent my period to come or not really.
