I Am Trying To Help A Friend Who Is Suffering

I am trying to help a friend who is suffering from something like bronchitis - losing her voice,not has seen a Dr. She is from Europe and tells me what she used to take over there is thyme syrup with sulfogaiacol, half and half.
Do we have an equivalent of this syrup in our drugstores?? I should have told you, these people are poor and would like pro bono help please??
