Hi,I am Dr. Shanthi.E (General & Family Physician). I will be looking into your question and guiding you through the process. Please write your question below.
I am type one diabetic and I eat low carb. I have increased my carbs to about 60 g per day due to not responding well to foods. My insulin dose has doubled on less than 30 g carb per day. So I raised the carbs as protein and fat seem to be causing gluconeogenesis. My family doc just retired and I am without a doctor right now. So I went to a clinic and had them prescribe metformin...hopefully to slow down the insulin resistance. My other huge symptom has been extreme fatigue. I am kind of low energy while teaching French in Grade 5.....then needing a nap anytime between 4 and 6. As in.....I cannot go on without the nap. Not getting exercise.....too tired. Even after getting up! Hoping if it is fatty liver things will straighten out. I was very active up until last summer.......working full time is way too much for my energy level now. If it is fatty liver, will the metformin give me back my energy?
