I Am Very Nervous. I Was Sterilizing Bottles Last Night

I am very nervous. I was sterilizing bottles last night when i fell asleep. I woke up to the smell of the burning plastic. When I went to the kitchen I saw black smoke every where. I took my two children 5 months and 4 years out of the house and waited for the fire department. We slept in a hotel for the night while the house aired out. How likely is it that i caused serious damage to my children? i am very concerned for their well-being. Also, we will be returning home today around 6 pm. is it safe to go into the house. the windows have been partially open all day along with the fact that they were completely open all night.
