I Ama 39 Yr Old Male With No Significant Health

I ama 39 yr old male with no significant health problems to mention. Earlier this evening my right eye felt as if something was in it like a hair. My cat was beside me and I was petting him at the time. I rubbed my right eye quite hard and for a bit. I later got up and in the mirror noticed that my sclera (white of eye) seemed to be swollen. Do I need to be worried about scleritis or can this result from me rubbing my eye like I did?
