I Ate Oats This Morning And Noticed That They Were

I ate oats this morning and noticed that they were giving off a very strong smell of what seemed like plastic. There was a bit of an unpleasant aftertaste, but the smell was very strong. I had a stuffy nose so unfortunately by the time I noticed the smell I had eaten an entire bowl. I think it must have something to do with the plastic bag in which it was packaged (an otherwise reputable brand). What do you think?
