I Believe I Injured My Foot Due To Lifting A

I believe I injured my foot due to lifting a riding mower that got stuck. I had to go on a business trip for 10 days and suffered while on the trip, managed to get by with Advil. Today went to my GP who said it was gout and did not require an x-ray. I am in substantial pain, can barely walk and have taken the medication. I am convinced I have a broken bone in my foot. I haven't missed a day of work in 8 years, a healthy person. Should I not have had an x-ray to confirm nothing is broken?
