I Broke My Third Toe About 3 Weeks Ago And

I broke my third toe about 3 weeks ago and was put into a hard shoe. It some better but now I am having stinking on the top and cannot put in presure of the middle of the foot. How long will this take. They did not take xrays they just said yes it is broke and wrapped it to the second toe.
