I Broke Up With My Boyfriend Due To His Infidelity.

I broke up with my boyfriend due to his infidelity. I went to my doctor to get tested and my doctor said I was exposed to herpes but I don't have the disease. I was shocked and couldn't come up with this question then. Does this mean I will break out with the virus. Can I give this virus to someone else in the future? I don't have any symptoms like the ones they talk about on Medscape.
