Hi,I am Dr. Shanthi.E (General & Family Physician). I will be looking into your question and guiding you through the process. Please write your question below.
I brought my son (age 6) to an ENT today due to snoring issues and sleep disturbances. After a quick exam of his nose, ears (mentioned possible fluid in left) and throat, she said the left tonsil was significantly larger than the right and he needed to have them removed and they would take the adenoids too. He has NEVER even had so much as a sore throat. His glands on both sides of his neck are enlarged. He has been experiencing gagging (and sometimes vomitting) if he wears a t shirt that touches his neck, or if his strap from his bike helmet rubs his neck. Is this normal to rush to remove the tonsils with no other symptoms/exams?
