I Caught A Virus Bronchial Issue, Coughing And Mucus. Started

I caught a virus bronchial issue, coughing and mucus. Started on December 7th. Today I still coughing up small mucus and irritating my asthma. I feel like I am trying to get the chill, dry coughing and at times mucus comes up.
Visited my doctor on December 8th, swab tested for flu and cold. Negative. I got the chill and fever the following day and it got worse. He prescribed a Z pack (5 day treatment). I got better the following week. As I get better but the dry coughing with mucus.
OH he also prescribed me albuterol and symacort to treat my asthma. The only time I get asthma is during this respiratory issues.
My question is how long does a virus in the respiratory last?
