I Currently Have A Cold. I Bent Over To Pick

I currently have a cold. I bent over to pick something up and there was almost like a pop sensation in my left nostril. Immediately there was an intense smell of ammonia also my left eye burned and teared up. It lasted maybe a minute long and then it was gone. What may have caused this, and should I be alarmed about it?
