I Cut The Bottom Of My Foot And The Side

I cut the bottom of my foot and the side of my 4th toe between it and my 3rd toe. I got stitches, 10 days later they removed them and 5 days later the cut on my toe reopened. It is about 1/8" deep and about 1/2 long. I went back but they said they can't stitch it again because it is too mushy. Put me in a shoe thing and said I have to wear it for FOUR WEEKS. This seems like serious overkill. Can't I just put some steristrips on it, cover with the breathable clear film and call it good???
