I Cut The Second Knuckle On My Index Finger Probably

I cut the second knuckle on my index finger probably a month ago, it swelled as expected and healed after about a week, but now the knuckle is almost twice the width and it feels as if scar tissue grew in between the knuckle joint and hurts to fully bend or touch. Why has this happened and how can I fix it?
