I Cut The Tip Of My Finger Off At Work

I cut the tip of my finger off at work and had a few stitches. It wasn't too bad. My finger is wrapped in the gauze I got earlier from the hospital. My finger is in a lot of pain and was wonering what I could do to help the pain. Its making it hard to sleep.Also they said I can't get it wet for 2 days but can I take off the gauze?
