I Damaged My Leg Next To Shin Seven Days Ago.

I damaged my leg next to shin seven days ago. I have a huge swelling which seemed to be calming down but is still large. Yellow bruising has gone down. but now have red discolouration just above ankle. Leg is aching. I applied ice and did elevate for a couple of days. The damage was not due to a fall but pressure on the shin as I tried to climb on to kitchen work surface. Should I be doing more? Is it normal for discolouration further down from lump?
