I Developed Redness In The White Portion Of My Eye.

I developed redness in the white portion of my eye. I did not bump my eye. I moved the lower skin around my eye downwards and there is a red spot smaller than a pea but darker in color than the redness. Can I put sterile water eye drops in the eye to relieve the irritation?
