I Do Not Have A Cold Or Sinus Problem Yet

I do not have a cold or sinus problem yet I've been coughing yucky green phlegm for days. I'm a former smoker quit nearly 5 yrs. No pain with coughing, happens only three or four times but it is consistent. My primary doc says my lungs sound clear, but I'm worried I am 68 and no health problems other than arthritis joint pain and overweight.
