I Don't Know How I Got The Bruise, But Just

I don't know how I got the bruise, but just under my knee cap I got a bruise randomly and it was a fairly large lump but i didn't hit it or anything!? So I was just wondering what it could be. It has been causing me a bit of pain especially when I am moving and when I touch it it hurts aswell.
