I Expierenced Pain In The Right Side Of My Neck

I expierenced pain in the right side of my neck that seem localized to a vein running up my neck. it hurt to turn my head to the right. The pain lasted a couple days, and after a red flush across the bottom part of my neck, the pain has lessened but still feel sore. Could it have been a small blood clot that dissolved on its own
