Hi,I am Dr. Shanthi.E (General & Family Physician). I will be looking into your question and guiding you through the process. Please write your question below.
I fell over a crushed box after a yard sale landing flat on to a concrete slab. I went to the ER and was told I had a fx of my upper humurus and placed in a compression sling. .Was referred to an Orthopedic surgeon. I was told that 99 out of 100 pts would not need surgery. Placed back in a compression sling. I moved to NC as planned 1 week later. I then went to an Orthopedic surgeon who reviewed my x-rays and had more taken, after reviewing ordered a Stat CT then recommended surgery. I signed aN informed consent for an ORIF of L humurus with plate and screws. I underwent surgery and when I woke up found I had undergone an endoscopic surgery with insertion of 2 pins, one down the shaft of the humurus and one placed lateral sticking out of the humurus. It turned out to be a failed surgery as severe muscle spasms caused the pins to back out. I had to undergo a second surgery which I originally signed for. I am undergoing PT. Please provide me with your professional opinion regarding my situation. I moved on June 13th and it is September. I am still moving into my apartment not to mention the unexpected expenses. I am on SS disability.
