I Found Out Today That I Am 8 Weeks Pregnant

I found out today that I am 8 weeks pregnant and had an ultrasound an hour later. Turns out the sack is empty and so I was offered the option of miscarrying naturally or getting a D&C. I had my first child naturally and without pain medication so the natural miscarriage seemed the better route. Then I read posts...many of the natural miscarriages sounded extremely painful and the loss of blood was a big factor. So my question is...how often is a natural miscarriage dangerous....and how long does it typical take...and anything else you can tell me about a natural miscarriage would help so I don't have to rely on posts from random bloggers.
