I Fractured My Middle Right Toe About Four Weeks Ago.

I fractured my middle right toe about four weeks ago. I went to the ER, they x-rayed and said it was not dislocated but the main bone was fractured. It bruised but not too badly. However, after four weeks, it is still swollen and has a purplish hue under the skin, and is lumpy around the base of the toe. I am not putting a lot of stress on it because I don't need to. I have had blood clots in the past (decades ago) and my family seems to be prone to them. Should I go back to the ER doctor and have him check it for a blood clot? They have an X-ray and diagnostic lab onsite, so is an ultrasound the best test? Thank you.
