I Get Severe Pain Along My Side Only When I

I get severe pain along my side only when I reach down or toward my hip, it's strong grabbing pain so intense that it causes me freeze up. When I reach for something higher like in my cupboard this never causes a flair up? I think this pain is very unusual and just started a few months ago, I waited this long because I thought it would eventually go away? I was wrong, even when I'm showering and try and wash my hip or butt it hits me almost every time.
