I got a cat bite this morning from my sisters cat (16 hours ago) on my leg. It drew blood and left four little puncture marks in my leg. I washed it with soap and put peroxide and polysporin on it. My sister lives out of town and I was going to be back home later this evening, so I have an appointment to see doctor tomorrow to get a tetnus shot. I called my doctors office. She is out of town, but her partner called me in doxycycline as a preventative measure. I am not showing any signs of an infection, but understand a cat bite should be assumed and treated as if there may be. My question....I am allergic to so many medicines and I really don’t want to take one if not necessary, but if I need to before I go to doctor tomorrow, I will start it. It is late now ( 1:10am...) do you feel I should go ahead and take it tonight, or can I just wait until I see doctor tomorrow at 12 noon? Will it make any difference and what are chances I really have infection? I think the medicine may make me sick as well...ugh......!
