I Got A Cold Sore 2 Days Ago, And Was

I got a cold sore 2 days ago, and was really embarrassed for my husband to see it so I tried to use 91% rubbing alcohol on it, but got desperate and used too much and held it on for too long. Now I have 2 big white blotches on my upper left side gums in front and my upper lip inside. It's excruciating pain. I have been taking tylonol and orajel but it's still so painful I cry. I can't eat or even brush my teeth. My husband said it coukd be a bacterial infection but it looks SO bad I'm scared it's something else. I don't know what to do for treatment and how to deal with the pain, it's unbearable.
