I Got My Ears Pierced Six Weeks Ago, And Now

I got my ears pierced six weeks ago, and now I can change out post-type earrings. After taking out the piercing earrings, when putting a new earring in my right ear, it hurt. I asked my mom to help, and it still hurt. I am assuming that the earrings are going through the holes not perfectly straight, and my grand-father told me to try using a lotion or vasoline to slip it through, but I haven't tried that yet. I really need help.
