I Got My Fourth Finger Stuck In A Door Last

I got my fourth finger stuck in a door last night. It hurt a lot at first. I was surprised at the intense pain but didn't think much about it. . Only this morning did I realize that I had broken the bone (distal phalanx according to on line info). There is a part of the bone sticking out on each side. I created a splint with my third finger. Is that enough? It's not painful just not terribly good looking (!)
