I Had ORIF Of Patella 6 Weeks Ago. Hardware Becoming

I had ORIF of patella 6 weeks ago. Hardware becoming prominant and painful. Preventing stretching ROM exercises. Is this common? I understand that hardware cannot be removed until bone is healed. Could you please tell me if I need to seek a second opinion. My surgeon does not listen to me and is alway in a rush. He was on cal when I injured myself.
