I Had A 9cm Goiter On The Right Side And

I had a 9cm goiter on the right side and it was removed. The cancer was contained in the goiter that was removed. There is 3 cm of the left thyroid still remaining. Does or should the left side need to be removed and does it have to be removed before radiation iodine treatment can be done?
