I Had A Bowel Reconnect After Having A Section Of

I had a bowel reconnect after having a section of colon removed and a colostomy for four months, a year ago . I get pain in the area of the stoma sometimes from working too physically and at other times from food passing through the area of the stoma site. Is this normal and should I not be doing gardening that strains stomach muscles?
