I Had A Cold A Couple Weeks Ago, But Since

I had a cold a couple weeks ago, but since then i get this dryness on the left side of my throat, and once i start coughing i gag up mucus. Nothing seems to help, i drink water, chew gum, cough drops, but nothing helps until i gag up mucus. Is there any idea what this could be?
