I Had A Cold Last Week, And Am Now Left

I had a cold last week, and am now left with this ridiculous urge to constantly cough, leaving my entire core sore from coughing. The coughs are non-productive, with the exception of a couple first thing in the am, which are blood laden mucus, roughly a teaspoon, most likely from violent coughing all night. How do I get rid of this cough. No fever to speak of anymore, no congestion, no sore throat, no sniffles, nothing but this god for saken cough. What can I do?
