I Had A Kidney Stone 3 Most Ago And Dr

I had a kidney stone 3 most ago and Dr says he thinks there is scar tissue in ureter. He will be doing CT scan and another test to see flow or urine and then probably surgery. He said a stent is required. I'm wondering if there is a way to avoid the stent. Drs can do microsurgery to repair Vas for vasectomy reversal and don't have to use a stent? Why can't the ureter be repaired the same way?
