I Had A Large Red Area That I Though Was

I had a large red area that I though was in ingrown hair. I did squeeze it and a thick puss came out. Since then it almost looks blistered and weeping about the size of a nickel. It is located on my inner thigh, just below my buttocks. It looks similar to genital herpes...but is there something else it could be?
