I Had A Lost Tampon In For 2 Weeks. Had

I had a lost tampon in for 2 weeks. Had it removed this morning by my gyno. She didn't recommend I take any antibiotics or anything. Prior to the tampon being removed, I experienced a foul smell, chills, and cramps in my lower abdomen. Now that it's removed, and she didn't prescribe me any meds, should I be under the impression I'm fine? Should I call back and ask for antibiotics to be safe or is there a chance I'm totally fine now that it's been removed??? Please help!!! I'm terrified I have a staph infection and I'm leaving it untreated.
