I Had A ' Lost ' Tampon That I Recently

I had a ' lost ' tampon that I recently removed, intact 3 1/2 days ago . My husband and I had sex thIs morning, and although not as strong, the 'aroma ' was still there. Somewhat tender/ sense of pressure also. I see my primary Dr. tomorrow. My question is when will this scent go away? Should I use a douche to thoroughly cleanse things? And ehat should I ask my Dr. To do?
